In a release issued by the Ghanaian Minister of Information, Mustapha Abdul-Hamid,the Ghanaian cabinet has banned the construction of new fuel and gas stations across the country and demanded an immediate review of the current licensing regime to ensure that only those with demonstrable capacity and competence engage in the LPG distribution business. It followed a cabinet decision on Thursday, October 12, 2017 following the recurring gas explosions in the country. Government has also warned that any official or regulatory official whom any criminal negligence is reported on will face the full rigors of the law.

Lagos State University (LASU) has announced the release of the 2017/2018 merit admission list as its set to admit 3,500 of 36,000 candidates. The Lagos State University (LASU) is to admit 3,500 students for the 2017/2018 academic session. The university’s Head of Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations, Adekoya Martins, made this known in a statement issued in Lagos on Thursday. Mr. Martins said that 36,500 candidates applied for admission in LASU for the academic session. He described as false, purported information on some social media platforms that LASU was set to admit 5,500 out of 36,500 candidates. “The university management wishes to state unequivocally that such information is false, baseless and unfounded. “Consequently, members of the university community and the general public are advised to disregard such information,” he said. A pregnant woman in China has been saved after her unborn baby’s leg pocked out of her womb in an ‘extremely rare’ case, a hospital claimed. Ms Zhang’s unborn daughter is said to have kicked Ms Zhang so hard she tore a wound on the wall of Ms Zhang’s uterus, which had been left by a previous operation. The baby girl was successfully born at 35 weeks through a caesarean section, and both she and her mother are in stable condition, according to the Peking University Shenzhen Hospital in southern China. In a statement posted on its official social media account yesterday, the hospital claimed that the first-time mother was taken to the hospital at around 10am on October 2 after having suffered severe abdominal pain for about five hours. Revealing how it happened, the woman’s family said they thought that the mother-to-be had a stomach-ache. Pop star    Seyi Shay  was the focus of the  Kigali Jazz Junction   show as she performed. It was an evening of live music, energetic performances and all round entertainment. The event held at the Kigali Serena hotel and saw the  Yolo  crooner entertain the audience with several hit songs as she played with a band. Other performances came from  Charly na Nina, Neptunez band  and the  Mavuno Souls band. President Muhammadu Buhari has spoken to President Nana Akufo-Addo to condole the government and people of Ghana on the gas explosions in the Legon suburb of Accra on Saturday. According to a statement on Monday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the President condoled Akufo-Addo in a telephone conversation on Sunday. The statement read, “The Nigerian leader told his Ghanaian counterpart that his personal thoughts and prayers, as well as that of all Nigerians, are with our Ghanaian brothers and sisters as they mourn their loved ones. President Buhari further prayed that Ghanaians, who are known for their extraordinary strength and resilience, will overcome this disaster and rise above the losses the country had suffered in recent times from gas-related explosions. Catfish pepper soup is a delicious meal and one of the ultimate Nigerian comfort foods that’s also very easy to prepare. It is famously called “point and kill” because of how the catfish is bought at local markets; you select your desired fish by pointing at it and it is killed and prepared for you. Catfish pepper soup Ingredients 1 catfish (cleaned and cut into 4-6 pieces) 3 cups of water 1 small habanero pepper (chopped) 1/2 small onion (chopped) 1 stock cube 1 tablespoon pepper soup spice (can be found at a local market) 1 tablespoon ground crayfish 1 basil leaf Salt to taste Instructions 1. Soak the fish in a bowl of cold water, three minutes prior to cooking. This is to prevent the fish from falling apart. 2. Put the fish in a pot over medium heat and add three cups of water. 3. Season with the stock cube, salt, onions, pepper, and crayfish. Boil for 10 minutes. 4. Add pepper soup spice. Boil for additional three minutes. 5. Serve immediately
